ADD

well. so much for posting often, let alone regularly. lots of stuff happened so far. school. first cell phone. robotics. student council. brand new ping pong club. hurricanes katrina and rita. this blog would take me well into tomorrow if i described all of these. so really, not posting often enough to explain events is more your loss than mine. oh well. anyway, the thought just occured to me to put a bunch of band site links up instead of their music vids. that way you can see what i like/listen to without being forced to watch vids. and most bands will have their vids on their site anyway, so its basically the same thing. anyway, ending this post and beginning work on the band link section...

access granted

YES! i got the new music section to work, you can check it under the "archive" section. everything except the switchfoot vid, which is so cool that it gets its own subset player on the blog. yeah. check them ouuuuut...

huttah!

seeing as how my music vids will soon make up the majority of my links, a separate music section might be coming soon...

thumb twiddling

yeah its been a while. if you have any suggestions on how to make me make my posts regular, tell me. anyway, im moving this stuff out of my AIM info b/c i want to change it without getting rid of the cool stuff i have in there now. which is a story and a prayer.

so heres the prayer:

Our Father, who 0wnz heaven, j00 r0ck!
May all 0ur base someday be belong to you!
May j00 0wn earth just like j00 0wn heaven.
Give us this day our warez, mp3z, and pr0n through a phat pipe.
And cut us some slack when we act like n00b lamerz,
just as we teach n00bz when they act lame on us.
Please don't give us root access on some poor d00d'z box when we're too ticked to think about what's right and wrong,
and if you could keep the fbi off our backs, we'd appreciate it.
For j00 0wn r00t on all our b0x3n
4ever and ever,
4m3n.

....and i kinda deleted the story too early, but here it is as best as i can remember:

.:| life and death of an emoticon |:.
( ' ' ) japanese baby
(oo) pudgy japanese boy
(-_-) fat japanese man

(_-_) tries doing yoga to lose weight
($_$) starts looking for a job
(+_+) eventually gets one as a clown

(*_*) so,
(#_#) being desperate,

(._.) gets caught, life sentenced to rehab

(><) angry at self, at world

okay thats all for now i guess. um peace out, i think.

retrospect

okay this is the last post on nerdfest b/c ive got more things to talk about. here im gonna mention that which i havent already, but should have. a last chance to tell the complete story, if you will. okay i dont think i mentioned all the speakers in one place, so: jaron lanier, helen granier, shawn fanning, guy kawasaki. look them up if you dont kno them. guy was undoubtedly the best. okay next point, the stealing. throughout my stay at the fairmont, something came over me and i decided that i would steal one item from the kitchen/dining area at somepoint everyday and bring it to my room. so the first day it was a glass. then a butterknife. then a wine glass. then an empty pitcher. then a fork and a spoon. the night of the spoon, we discovered that the fridge in our room was working, so one of my roommates said that the next day i should steal a bunch of plastic cups and he'd somehow manage getting a 2liter, then we could drink that the rest of the nights. now up till this point i had been leaving each item out in the open the next morning so that room service could take it back. so the next night i bring a stack of paper cups. and then i got back to my regular job, so the next night was a butterknife. but this one was a keeper, for unlike the other butterknife i took, unlike any other silverware in the hotel, this knife was impressive. all the other utensils were rather ordinary, nothing surprising. this one was like a pirate's butterknife, the tip is pointed, has that little curve in it like, like a scimitar. yep. and so that night i hid the knife in my suitcase b/c there was no way i would let a find like this go. so ask to see it sometime, i still have it. yes, i managed to get it on the plane and back home. i bet that makes you feel safe. okay on to what i think is the last point, the people i met. so every techtalk has one faculty advisor to oversee it. ours was jarred brinkmann, attends sanjose state, majored in spanish and linguistics and has been to spain. now my roommates were chris and gary, both of whom are skaters, one a prep, the other is like a hobo but w/ a home and stuff. id say white trash, but then everyone'd be allupons. okay, the significant techtalk peeps: let me start w/ the most prominent - marco "detroit" martinez. yeah. um, i really dont feel like talking about him now b/c it would be as long as what ive already typed. so if you wanna kno, ask me about him yourself. so his groupies were sean "savvy" pillow and pete sclavos. then theres "boisterous" brian, "jittery" jason, ryan "timmaaaaay", andre "the doctor" or "dre" or "3000" the only black guy in the group, mike "girlfriend has a penis", "karate" kody. pete and savvy were in my future solns group, along w/ charlie "sacremento" or "i remember way too many quotes from homestar for my own good", kitsan "hong kong", kevin "south dakota", josh "just josh", and jeremy "this guy draws better than your mom". i guess if you want more than just their nicknames you can ask for it, but do you really care that much? w/e its fine by me. if i were you id be a little intrigued. so most of the time i hung around w/ kitsan, charlie, karate, and dakota. mike tends to tag along. im sure ive forgotten some people, but really it doesnt bother me. sucks for them. okay i think thats it for nylf. oh yeah after guy spoke, the cofounder of nylftech got up and told us that if we had any skills that we wanted to contribute to the promotion of nylf for next year to give name/email. and something about cash reward and stuff or something. then he lists off skills needed like flash, web devo, html, prog, stuff, blah, things i dont do, etc. however, somewhere in that list was "...audio, video..."and im like holy crap yes, esp. for cash!!! so i did. and now, by the 15th, i hafta submit a formal proposal answering one of 3 questions about improving nylf. and winners of each question get a $50 giftcard to best buy. too bad i havent started. thats 50 bucks im not getting. oh well. taht should be it. okay then. glad tahts over w/

home again

so in retrospect, i realized my massive poststream died when i left for vancouver on saturday. so this promises to be a decently large post. okay here goes. left saturday morning to fly to vancouver. got there, chilled, had the big dinner party thing at the family reunion, poker, slept, woke up, watched part of natl treasure, and then my folks dropped me off at the airport to fly back to finish up the conf. so as it turns out, i get to the airport 2hrs early, and them canadians decide to put me thru extra screening. tho i dont blame them that much b/c im 2 hrs early and indian and prolly the first one checking in for my flight (goes w/ the whole 2hrs early thing). anyway i fly back, pretty uneventful on alaska airlines, and i walk into my room at 5pm, when everyone's getting back from santaclara boardwalk or fishermans wharf, and i see this big 10lb block of chocolate on my bed. i found out later that my roommate had bought it for 50 bucks from ghiradellis (amazing place, btw) near fishermans wharf. contact me if you want to kno more about the g-man's chocolate. 10 pounds. man. worth all 50 dollars. anyway, that was sunday. so sunday (bloody sunday) and monday were basically finish-up-future-solns-proj-like-hella-mad-crazy-no-ones-business -because-tomorrow-is-tuesday-and-thats-when-you-present-your-project-to -the-judges-so-hurry-up-and-finish days. so we presented our board, flash, and flyer on tuesday to like 6ish judges. we didnt win, but the prize was best seats at the ballgame that night, so not like we died from not making it into the finals. so the game that night. giants vs reds. on team has a 40something winning percentage, the other 30something. the stadium is about half full, if not less. go figure. and the place is designed so that no one can catch a home run. its right by the bay, and positioned so that homeplate faces the water, so homeruns go over the fence and into the agua. o yeah, and i was in a shirt and shorts. and its evening in cali. and really windy. major shrinkage. and concessions suck b/c not only are they concession stands, but theyre in cali. cali, where apartments could be $1m plus. anyway, i go and i get a big, soft pretzel and some hot chocolate. turns out, the pretzel doesnt have the cream filling, and is hard and barely warm. the chocolate more than made up by burning the living daylights out of my tongue. which btw, is still calloused and numb. anyway, everyone leaves on wednesday. yippee. the end of the saga. was a couple of sentences ago. and b/c its exactly one hr since i started this post, im off.
